The preparations of the heart [are] of man,{HR}But the answer of the tongue [is] from Jehovah.
2
All the ways of a man [are] clean in his own eyes;{HR}But Jehovah weigheth the spirits.
3
Commit thy works to Jehovah,{HR}And thy thoughts shall be established.
4
Jehovah hath wrought everything for his own end;{HR}Yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
5
Every proud heart [is] an abomination to Jehovah;{HR}Hand in hand he shall not be held innocent.
6
By mercy and truth iniquity is purged;{HR}And by the fear of Jehovah they depart from evil.
7
When a man’s ways please Jehovah,{HR}He maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
8
Better [is] a little with righteousness{HR}Than great revenues without righteousness.

The heart of man deviseth his way,{HR}But Jehovah directeth his steps.
10
An oracle is on the lips of the king;{HR}His mouth will not err in judgment.

The just balance and scales [are] of Jehovah;{HR}All the weights of the bag [are] his work.

[It is] an abomination to kings to commit wickedness;{HR}For the throne is established by righteousness.

Righteous lips [are] the delight of kings;{HR}And they love him that speaketh aright.

The fury of a king [is as] messengers of death;{HR}But a wise man will pacify it.

In the light of the king’s countenance [is] life,{HR}And his favour [is] as a cloud of the latter rain.

How much better is it to get wisdom than fine gold,{HR}And the getting of intelligence to be preferred to silver!

The highway of the upright [is] to depart from evil:{HR}He that taketh heed to his way keepeth his soul.

Pride [goeth] before destruction;{HR}And a haughty spirit before a fall.

Better [is it to be] a humble spirit with the poor,{HR}Than to divide the spoil with the strong.

He that giveth heed to the word shall find good;{HR}And whoso confideth in Jehovah, happy [is] he.

The wise in heart is called intelligent,{HR}And the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.

Wisdom [is] a fountain of life for him that hath it;{HR}But the instruction of fools [is] folly.

The heart of the wise instructeth his mouth,{HR}And addeth learning to his lips.

Pleasant words [are as] a honey-comb,{HR}Sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
25
There is a way that seemeth right to a man,{HR}But the end thereof [is] the ways of death.
26
The appetite of the labouring man laboureth for him,{HR}For his mouth urgeth him on.
27
A man of Belial diggeth evil,{HR}And on his lips [is] as a scorching fire.
28
A froward man soweth contention:{HR}And a talebearer separateth chief friends.
29
A violent man enticeth his neighbour,{HR}And leadeth him a way [that is] not good.
30
He that shutteth his eyes, [it is] to devise froward things;{HR}He that biteth his lips bringeth evil to pass.
31
The hoary head [is] a crown of glory;{HR}It is found in the way of righteousness.
32
The slow to anger [is] better than the mighty;{HR}And he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.
33
The lot is cast into the lap,{HR}But the decision [is] of Jehovah.
