Unblameable. ⁸For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle? Unfaithful. Psa. 78:57⁵⁷But turned back, and dealt unfaithfully like their fathers: they were turned aside like a deceitful bow. (Psalm 78:57); Prov. 25:19¹⁹Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint. (Proverbs 25:19).

Unfeigned. 2 Cor. 6:6⁶By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned, (2 Corinthians 6:6); 1 Tim. 1:5⁵Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned: (1 Timothy 1:5); 2 Tim. 1:5⁵When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also. Unfruitful. Matt. 13:22²²He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. (Matthew 13:22); Eph. 5:11¹¹And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. (Ephesians 5:11); Titus 3:14¹⁴And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful. Ungodliness. Rom. 1:18; 11:26¹⁸For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; (Romans 1:18)

Unicorn. (1) any one-horned animal, as the rhinoceros. Isa. 34:7⁷And the unicorns shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls; and their land shall be soaked with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness. (Isaiah 34:7), marg.

(2) (Job 39:9-12⁹Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib? ¹⁰Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee? ¹¹Wilt thou trust him, because his strength is great? or wilt thou leave thy labor to him? ¹²Wilt thou believe him, that he will bring home thy seed, and gather it into thy barn? (Job 39:9‑12)). Heb. Rĕêm; Gk. μονοκέρως. R.V. “wild-ox”; marg. “ox-antelope.” The Greek in Num. 23:22²²God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn. (Numbers 23:22) is ἀδροί. The translation “unicorn” is erroneous, as the mention of two horns on one rĕêm (Deut. 33:17¹⁷His glory is like the firstling of his bullock, and his horns are like the horns of unicorns: with them he shall push the people together to the ends of the earth: and they are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they are the thousands of Manasseh. (Deuteronomy 33:17)) proves. It was a very strong wild-ox, untamable, having two tall horns, with which it gored. It is distinct from oxen and bulls, and is used figuratively for “prince” or “chieftain” (Isa. 34:7⁷And the unicorns shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls; and their land shall be soaked with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness. (Isaiah 34:7)).

Num. 23:22²²God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn. (Numbers 23:22): he hath as it were the strength of an u.

Unite. Gen. 49:6⁶O my soul, come not thou into their secret; unto their assembly, mine honor, be not thou united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their selfwill they digged down a wall. (Genesis 49:6); Psa. 86:11¹¹Teach me thy way, O Lord; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name. (Psalm 86:11).

Unity, of the Church. John 10:16¹⁶And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd. (John 10:16); Rom. 12:5⁵So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. (Romans 12:5); 1 Cor. 10:17; 12:13¹⁷For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread. (1 Corinthians 10:17)

Unlearned. (Acts 4:13); 1 Cor. 14:16¹⁶Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest? (1 Corinthians 14:16); 2 Tim. 2:23²³But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. Unleavened, bread. Ex. 12:39; 13:7; 23:18³⁹And they baked unleavened cakes of the dough which they brought forth out of Egypt, for it was not leavened; because they were thrust out of Egypt, and could not tarry, neither had they prepared for themselves any victual. (Exodus 12:39)

Unmarried, (virgins), Paul’s exhortation to. 1 Cor. 7:8,11,25,32⁸I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. (1 Corinthians 7:8)

Unmoveable. Acts 27:41⁴¹And falling into a place where two seas met, they ran the ship aground; and the forepart stuck fast, and remained unmoveable, but the hinder part was broken with the violence of the waves. Unoccupied. Judg. 5:6⁶In the days of Shamgar the son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the highways were unoccupied, and the travellers walked through byways. (Judges 5:6): the highways were u.

Unperfect. Psa. 139:16¹⁶Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. (Psalm 139:16): yet being u. R.V. unformed.

Unreasonable. Acts 25:27²⁷For it seemeth to me unreasonable to send a prisoner, and not withal to signify the crimes laid against him. (Acts 25:27); 2 Thess. 3:2²And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. (2 Thessalonians 3:2).

Unreproveable. Col. 1:22²²In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: (Colossians 1:22): u. in his sight.

Unrighteous. Ex. 23:1¹Thou shalt not raise a false report: put not thine hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness. (Exodus 23:1): an u. witness.

Isa. 10:1¹Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed; (Isaiah 10:1): decree u. decrees.

Isa. 55:7⁷Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. (Isaiah 55:7): let the u. man forsake his thoughts.

Rom. 3:5⁵But if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who taketh vengeance? (I speak as a man) (Romans 3:5): is God u.?

Heb. 6:10¹⁰For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love, which ye have showed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. (Hebrews 6:10): God is not u. to forget your work.

Rom. 1:18¹⁸For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; (Romans 1:18): hold the truth in u.

Rom. 2:8⁸But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, (Romans 2:8): to them that obey u.

1 John 1:9⁹If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9): cleanse us from all u.

Unruly. 1 Thess. 5:14¹⁴Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men. (1 Thessalonians 5:14); Titus 1:6⁶If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly. (Titus 1:6); James 3:8⁸But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. (James 3:8).

Unsavory. (1) Job 6:6⁶Can that which is unsavory be eaten without salt? or is there any taste in the white of an egg? (Job 6:6), can that which is u. be eaten?

(2) without savor; foolish. 2 Sam. 22:27²⁷With the pure thou wilt show thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt show thyself unsavory. (2 Samuel 22:27). R.V. froward.

Unsearchable. Job 5:9⁹Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number: (Job 5:9); Psa. 145:3³Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable. (Psalm 145:3); Rom. 11:33³³O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! (Romans 11:33); Eph. 3:8⁸Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; (Ephesians 3:8).

Unseemly. Rom. 1:27²⁷And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. (Romans 1:27); 1 Cor. 13:5⁵Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; (1 Corinthians 13:5).

Unskillful. Heb. 5:13¹³For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. (Hebrews 5:13): is u. in the word. R.V. without experience of.

Unspeakable. 2 Cor. 9:15; 12:4¹⁵Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift. (2 Corinthians 9:15)

Unspotted. James 1:27²⁷Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. (James 1:27): u. from the world.

Unstable. Gen. 49:4⁴Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father's bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch. (Genesis 49:4); James 1:8⁸A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. (James 1:8); 2 Peter 2:14¹⁴Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children: (2 Peter 2:14).

Unstopped. Isa. 35:5⁵Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. (Isaiah 35:5): ears of the deaf u.

Untempered. Ezek. 13:10-11,14¹⁰Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there was no peace; and one built up a wall, and, lo, others daubed it with untempered mortar: ¹¹Say unto them which daub it with untempered mortar, that it shall fall: there shall be an overflowing shower; and ye, O great hailstones, shall fall; and a stormy wind shall rend it. (Ezekiel 13:10‑11)

Unthankful. Luke 6:35³⁵But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. Untimely. Psa. 58:8⁸As a snail which melteth, let every one of them pass away: like the untimely birth of a woman, that they may not see the sun. (Psalm 58:8); Rev. 6:13¹³And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. (Revelation 6:13).

Untoward, obstinate, perverse. Acts 2:40⁴⁰And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. (Acts 2:40). R.V. crooked.

Unwalled. Deut. 3:5⁵All these cities were fenced with high walls, gates, and bars; beside unwalled towns a great many. (Deuteronomy 3:5); Esther 9:19¹⁹Therefore the Jews of the villages, that dwelt in the unwalled towns, made the fourteenth day of the month Adar a day of gladness and feasting, and a good day, and of sending portions one to another. (Esther 9:19); Ezek. 38:11¹¹And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates, (Ezekiel 38:11).

Unwashen. Matt. 15:20²⁰These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man. (Matthew 15:20); Mark 7:2,5²And when they saw some of his disciples eat bread with defiled, that is to say, with unwashen, hands, they found fault. (Mark 7:2)
⁵Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands? (Mark 7:5).

Unwise. Deut. 32:6⁶Do ye thus requite the Lord, O foolish people and unwise? is not he thy father that hath bought thee? hath he not made thee, and established thee? (Deuteronomy 32:6); Hos. 13:13¹³The sorrows of a travailing woman shall come upon him: he is an unwise son; for he should not stay long in the place of the breaking forth of children. (Hosea 13:13); Rom. 1:14¹⁴I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise. (Romans 1:14); Eph. 5:17¹⁷Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. (Ephesians 5:17).

Unwittingly, unconsciously, unintentionally. Lev. 22:14¹⁴And if a man eat of the holy thing unwittingly, then he shall put the fifth part thereof unto it, and shall give it unto the priest with the holy thing. (Leviticus 22:14); Josh. 20:3,5³That the slayer that killeth any person unawares and unwittingly may flee thither: and they shall be your refuge from the avenger of blood. (Joshua 20:3)

Unworthy. Acts 13:46⁴⁶Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles. (Acts 13:46); 1 Cor. 6:2; 11:27²Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? (1 Corinthians 6:2)

Upbraid. Uphaz, ū′-phăz. Jer. 10:9⁹Silver spread into plates is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands of the founder: blue and purple is their clothing: they are all the work of cunning men. (Jeremiah 10:9); Dan. 10:5⁵Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz: (Daniel 10:5).

Uphold. Psa. 51:12¹²Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. (Psalm 51:12): u. me with thy free spirit.

Psa. 54:4⁴Behold, God is mine helper: the Lord is with them that uphold my soul. (Psalm 54:4): with them that u. my soul.
