(Deuteronomy 32:33); Psa. 91:1313Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. (Psalm 91:13); Jer. 51:3434Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon hath devoured me, he hath crushed me, he hath made me an empty vessel, he hath swallowed me up like a dragon, he hath filled his belly with my delicates, he hath cast me out. (Jeremiah 51:34). Heb. Tannín; Gk. κήτος. The Hebrew word means a “monster” in animal life. In Gen. 1:2121And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. (Genesis 1:21) “great whale” is generic of all monsters moving in the waters. So in Matt. 12:4040For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. (Matthew 12:40) the Greek κήτος means any great sea-monster, as does the Hebrew Dâg gâdôl of Jonah 1:1717Now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. (Jonah 1:17).

Wheat was the chief grain of Mesopotamia in Jacob’s time; and from that day to this it has continued to be so in Egypt, where the many-eared variety (Gen. 41:2222And I saw in my dream, and, behold, seven ears came up in one stalk, full and good: (Genesis 41:22)), depicted on monuments, is still grown.

(Jeremiah 23:19); Ezek. 1:44And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the color of amber, out of the midst of the fire. (Ezekiel 1:4); Nah. 1:33The Lord is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the Lord hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet. Wimple; a covering laid in folds over the head, around the chin and neck.
Wine; Several Hebrew words are translated thus in the Old Testament:
(2) Tirôsh, the fruit of the vine, of which the etymological meaning is uncertain, but its intoxicating properties seem clearly indicated in Hos. 4:1111Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart. (Hosea 4:11), “Whoredom and wine [yayin] and new wine [tirôsh] take away the heart.”
(3) Gleukos, sweet wine (Acts 2:1313Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine. (Acts 2:13)). The wine mingled with myrrh given to our Lord was designed to deaden pain (Mark 15:2323And they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh: but he received it not. (Mark 15:23)). In connection with the Lord’s Supper, Jesus never uses the word “wine,” but always the “fruit of the vine,” not excluding, but also not requiring, the use of fermented wine.
