Measuring up

RUSSELL and Bobby are playing on the school team. Only healthy and strong boys can play. Isn’t it fine that Bobby and Russel have measured up to the requirements. The boys have all been weighed, measured, and examined.
Is there ever a perfect boy or girl? Well, some are nearly perfect in body, but by God’s measuring stick no one is perfect or entirely good. The Lord Jesus is the only perfect person that ever lived. He pleased His Father in all things.
God’s measuring stick is the Ten Commandments. God says, “All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Rom. 3:2323For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (Romans 3:23). “There is none righteous, no, not one.” Rom. 3:1010As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: (Romans 3:10).
These are some ways that we do not measure up. We do not let God have first place in our hearts. We do not always obey our parents. Sometimes we tell stories and lies. Sometimes we take things that do not belong to us. Sometimes we fight. Sometimes we hate. And sometimes we think very wicked things and God knows about that too. God says that if we break one commandment we break them all. (James 2:1010For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. (James 2:10); Gal. 3:1010For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. (Galatians 3:10)). So what God wants us to do is to accept Christ. The law was our schoolmaster until Christ came. “that ye believe on Him Whom He hath sent.” John 6:2929Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. (John 6:29).
Praise and honor the Lord Jesus Christ!
