ANOTHER picture that God has given us is that Christians are lights. God says, “Ye are the light of the world.” Matt. 5:14¹⁴Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. (Matthew 5:14). “Let your light shine before men.” Matt. 5:16¹⁶Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 5:16).

Some Christians give out more light than others. And some hide their light.

Letting our light shine means to let people see that we are not of this world, even as Christ was not. We must let people see our faces brightened with the joy of what Christ is and show them that our hearts are satisfied with Him.

God says, “Now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light.” Eph. 5:8⁸For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (Ephesians 5:8).

As soon as we accept the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour, we become God’s children and He expects us to act like His children. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” Eph. 2:10¹⁰For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:10).
