It should also be observed that the believer is expected to distinguish those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart, as well as those who are vessels to dishonor, and that it is as much the Lord’s mind for him to be in company with the former, as to purge himself out from the latter. (Exposition of 2 Timothy: 2 Timothy 2:20-26 by E. Dennett)
We do not decide who are the Lord’s: He knows them. But we are to associate ourselves with those who manifest themselves, such as call on the Lord out of a pure heart. (2 Timothy 2 by J.N. Darby)
Purpose of heart will be needed both for the one and the other, and nothing will beget this save having the heart occupied with Christ (article #86511)
peace as between the saints, as a consequence of enjoyed peace with God in the soul, but which can only be pursued where the graces just named are previously found. (article #86511)
It is often contended that separation from evil would, in a day like the present, lead to a path of isolation. This scripture is a complete answer to such a contention (article #86511)

J. N. Darby Translation

+
22
But youthful lusts flee, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace, with those that call upon the Lord out of a pure heart.

W. Kelly Translation

+
22
But flee youthful lusts, and follow after righteousness, faith, love, peacea, withb those that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

WK Translation Notes

+
a
I cannot agree with the removal of the comma after "peace," so as to separate "with those that call..." from the verb "follow," and connect it only with the substantive "peace," immediately preceding. To limit the pursuance of peace to those that so call on the Lord would give the poorest possible sense, as being such as presented the least strain.

Many MSS. add "all" here, but not the best. It is a gloss from {vi 27231}{/vi}; {vi 28366}{/vi}.
