A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet on Shigionoth.
O Jehovah, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid.
And his brightness was as the sunlight;
Before him went the pestilence,
He stood, and made the earth tremble:
I saw the tents of Chushan in affliction:
Was Jehovah displeased against the rivers?
Thy bow was made quite naked,
The mountains saw thee, and they trembled:
The sun and moon stood still in their habitation:
Thou didst march through the land in indignation,
Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people,
Thou didst strike through with his staves the head of his villages:
Thou didst walk through the sea with thine horses,
When I heard, my belly trembled;
Although the fig tree shall not blossom,
Yet I will rejoice in Jehovah,
Jehovah the Lord is my strength,
