Who Stands at the Door and Knocks?

Listen from:
Someone is knocking at the door. If I were alone in the house, I don’t think I would open the door unless I knew who was there. How can I be sure who it is?
Maybe that’s your problem too. Perhaps the old way was best, because the one who knocked on the door would also call out. If it was a voice I knew, then my fears were gone. “Yes, yes, do come in!” and I would quickly open the door.
The verse goes on to say, “If any man hear My voice ... ” There’s nothing mysterious about the One who is knocking if I know His voice. I will open the door at once, because I know the voice of Jesus!
How do I know? How can I be sure? If you don’t know, get your Bible and read His Word. The more you read, the more you will be sure that the Word of God is true, and the One who stands at your door knocking is truly the Son of God. Open the door and let Him in!
What can I give Him to show that He is welcome? He doesn’t want gifts from you. He is the Giver! He forgives your sins, all of them, because He took the punishment Himself on the cross for sinners like you and me. You could give Him your love and your thanks for forgiving your sins. Even the angels can’t give Him a gift like that, because they were never sinners.
He says, “I will [eat] with him,” and that means that you feast together on His wonderful love and the love of your heart in return. “We love Him, because He first loved us” (1 John 4:1919We love him, because he first loved us. (1 John 4:19)). But that’s not all. The verse also says, “He will [eat] with me.”
Does He really want me in His home to eat with Him? He certainly does, and He will provide the feast forever and ever! But you can never go to His home if you don’t let Him into your heart now while He’s standing at the door knocking. We don’t let everyone in, but nobody ever loved you like Jesus does. Nobody else ever came into the world to save sinners, but I am forever glad that Jesus did!
What if you don’t want Him? What if you choose to live without Him, because you would rather do things that you know He does not like? If babies die, Jesus takes them to heaven because they cannot choose. But you can choose. We gave you this paper because we want you to open the door of your heart to the Lord Jesus, the Saviour of sinners. There’s no one to save you but Jesus.
Will you answer His loving knock at your heart’s door today? The verse says, “I will come in to him.” That’s personal. That means you, all by yourself. No one can make this choice for you.
Have you opened your heart’s door to Him? If not, don’t wait any longer, because He may stop knocking.
“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will [eat] with him, and he with Me” (Revelation 3:2020Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. (Revelation 3:20)).
