Helping Others

Listen from:
A few days ago I was working on my scrapbook. I needed to see how the pages were held in place inside the scrapbook, so I asked Dad to help me. We got Mom’s little box of tools she keeps in the kitchen and used a screwdriver to take out the screws that held everything together.
“OH!” Dad exclaimed. “Here are my pliers that I’ve been looking ALL OVER for!” and he picked up a pair of pliers with blue handles. Yes, they were his pliers and not Mom’s, but somehow they ended up in Mom’s kitchen set of tools. Meanwhile, Dad had looked everywhere for them. We don’t know how they happened to be in with Mom’s tools, but Dad was glad to find them anyway.
It was a good thing he helped me with my scrapbook, because if he hadn’t, he wouldn’t have found his lost pliers. If we help someone, we will get a blessing if we do it for the Lord Jesus. We may not find things we’ve lost or get paid for helping, but along with a “Thank you,” we do get a blessing when we help others. “He that [waters] shall be watered also himself” (Proverbs 11:2525The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself. (Proverbs 11:25)).
