The Car Accident

It was a nice sunny day, and Gillian and her dad visited together as they drove to their new home. Gillian’s mom, sisters and brothers were behind them in the station wagon. Suddenly Dad pulled over to the side of the road and stopped the van. He quickly told Gillian, “Mom’s just had an accident! Stay right here.” He jumped out of the car and ran back to the station wagon.
As she looked through the back window, all Gillian could see was a cloud of dust. She was only twelve years old, but she knew Jesus Christ as her very own Saviour. She cried out to Him in faith, “Oh, Lord Jesus, please keep my family safe!” She opened her Bible, and her eyes fell on this verse: “I [instruct] you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man’s life among you, but of the ship” (Acts 27:2222And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you, but of the ship. (Acts 27:22)).
And it was true—the car was badly wrecked, but no one was hurt! Gillian’s family was all safe. Gillian knew that the Lord Jesus had answered her prayer even before she had prayed. “It shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear” (Isaiah 65:2424And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear. (Isaiah 65:24)). Gillian’s faith grew stronger that day.
Gillian is much older now, and she is still walking with the Lord Jesus and trusting in Him. She is looking forward to spending eternity with her Saviour who died to give her forgiveness of sins and eternal life. She finds many occasions to tell others of her Saviour as she works with people who are sick and ready to die and enter eternity. She wants them to know that the Bible says, “It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:2727And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: (Hebrews 9:27)), and then she tells them that Jesus loves them and died for them. He has made a way so that they can go to heaven and escape the judgment. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me” (John 14:66Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6)).
Boys and girls, and grown-ups too, someone has to pay for your sins—either you will pay for them in that awful place called hell or Jesus paid for them on the cross. Jesus loves you so much that he took the punishment for your sins if you will trust in Him. Will you let Him be your Saviour? Just tell Him that you are truly sorry for your sins and want Him to wash them away in the blood that He shed on the cross. God gives you a promise in 1 John 1:77But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. (1 John 1:7): “The blood of Jesus Christ [God’s] Son cleanseth us from all sin.”
