Mr. Marcus had a watch with a musical alarm. Every night he set the watch on the nightstand beside his bed, and every morning at 6:45 the watch would play a tune and wake him up.
One morning Mr. Marcus woke up at 6:45 as usual, hearing his musical watch. But the watch was not on his nightstand, and the tune sounded muffled and far away. Mr. Marcus got out of bed and began to look around for his watch.
The sound seemed to be coming from the kitchen, so Mr. Marcus searched all around the kitchen carefully. But even with his dog, Fudge, helping him hunt, he could not find his watch. Soon the music stopped, and Mr. Marcus had to give up his search.
The next morning at 6:45 Mr. Marcus again heard his watch, but this time the muffled tune seemed to come from the hall outside his room. Puzzled, Mr. Marcus stood in the hall, thinking. There was no place in the hall where a watch could be hiding. In fact, there was nothing at all in the hall except Fudge. Fudge! Was it possible ... ?
That night Mr. Marcus closed Fudge in the bedroom with him and at 6:45 the next morning when the music started, he picked up his dog, held him close and listened carefully. It was as he feared. The music was coming from inside Fudge!
Poor Fudge. Somehow, he had swallowed the watch, wristband and all.
Mr. Marcus loved his pet and was worried that the swallowed watch might make him sick. But Mr. Marcus knew there was someone he could turn to for help. He took Fudge right over to the vet. Mr. Marcus told the vet his story. After taking some X-rays, the vet and Mr. Marcus could see clearly that Fudge had indeed swallowed the watch. So, the vet operated on Fudge to remove the watch from his stomach. Soon Fudge was as healthy as ever.
Fudge was only a dog, and dogs don’t sin, but this story reminds me of the verse, “Be sure your sin will find you out” (Numbers 32:2323But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the Lord: and be sure your sin will find you out. (Numbers 32:23)). The Lord Jesus died to give us not only salvation, but the victory over sin in our lives. If we go on sinning, not only God knows about it, but it also affects our lives. The musical watch kept playing its tune inside Fudge’s stomach, and sins that we commit keep causing problems in our lives. Why not go to the Lord Jesus and ask Him to show you how to overcome sin in your life, instead of letting it go on and affect your life?
