A Story About Nothing

Mr. Giordano was a very rich man who lived in Italy. He had an expensive car, a nice house, a good job, and pretty much anything he wanted that money could buy. In his nice car he had a little New Testament in the glove compartment that he had put there because he didn’t know what else to do with it.
Isn’t that sad? He had the precious Word of God, that could teach him the way to heaven, and he didn’t know what to do with it! He had lots of things, but not the one thing that matters most in the whole world, because he didn’t have the Lord Jesus as his Savior.
Then one day Mr. Giordano had a car accident. He was not badly hurt, but he knew that he could have been killed. As he waited for the ambulance, he reached for the papers that showed he owned his car, and somehow he grabbed that little New Testament. For the first time, he opened it and read a verse that caught his attention. It was 1 Timothy 6:77For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. (1 Timothy 6:7). “We brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.”
He realized that if he had been killed, all his money would mean nothing. He would have nothing for eternity. But after death there is something that would still be his. His sins! These don’t disappear when we die. They must be gotten rid of before we die or they will be ours forever and will take us to hell.
Mr. Giordano began to read the Bible, and he soon accepted the Lord Jesus as his Savior. Now all his sins were gone! Will you also receive this loving Savior as your own? Then you will have the only riches that really matter.
“What shall it profit a man [or boy or girl], if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Mark 8:36-3736For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? 37Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? (Mark 8:36‑37)).
