• What strikes me is the remarkable way in which that solemn appeal comes in, anticipating that man too would depart from His word. John was going to worship the angel! (“Lectures on Revelation 19” by W. Kelly)

It seems an assumption that it is a testimony to Him; for this would be either the dative in Greek (as in English), or the genitive after peri (about) as a regular rule. It is the testimony Jesus is rendering in the book, whoever may receive or repeat it. Compare chap. 1:2, 12:17.

It may be as well to observe here that, in the reciprocal proposition, so often vaguely applied or misapplied, "the spirit of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus," we are not to understand a testimony to Jesus, but that which He gave, and, in general throughout the Apocalypse, His prophetic testimony, whether committed to an angel or to His servants. It is incorrect therefore to say that this means to Jesus. The angelic communicator was but a fellow-servant of John’s: God was to be worshipped.
