The Voice

Oh! that I were a voice—a voice whose cry
The troubled heart might calm:
A faithful echo of the voice of old
That cried, “Behold the Lamb!”
Oh! to be nothing, of all self bereft,
One theme alone be mine;
I would be but a sound to bear abroad
No name, dear Lord, but Thine.
I’d stand and gaze on Thee, lost in the path
That Thy dear feet have trod;
And then I’d follow with the joyous shout –
“Behold the Lamb of God!”
“And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden” (Gen. 3:88And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden. (Genesis 3:8)).
“And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude... saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to Him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and His wife hath made herself ready” (Rev. 19:6-76And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. 7Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. (Revelation 19:6‑7)).
“The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
