Dictionary of Biblical Words:

A talent of gold is said to be worth £5,475, hence this fitly represents in the parable in Matt. 18:23²³Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants. (Matthew 18:23) the difference between sins against God and against my fellow man, the former being represented by the sum of £54,750,000, the other by £3 2S. 6d.

Boyd’s Bible Dictionary:

(weight). A Hebrew weight and denomination for money, equal to 3,000 shekels, or 931 pounds of silver, and varying in value from $1,550 to $2,000 (Ex. 38:25²⁵And the silver of them that were numbered of the congregation was an hundred talents, and a thousand seven hundred and threescore and fifteen shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary: (Exodus 38:25); Matt. 18:24²⁴And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents. (Matthew 18:24)). The Attic, or Greek talent, was worth about $1,200; the Roman great talent, $500; the Roman small talent, $375.
