Christ set an example of.
Matt. 4:8-10

Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and showeth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. (Matthew 4:8‑10)

Denying ungodliness and worldly lusts.

Controlling the appetite.

Abstaining from fleshly lusts.
1 Peter 2:11

Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; (1 Peter 2:11)

No longer living to lusts of men.
1 Peter 4:2

That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. (1 Peter 4:2)
