throne.
Rev. 4:2‑11• 2[And] immediately I was in {i}the{/i} Spirit; and, behold, a throne was set in the heaven, and upon the throne one sitting:
3and he that sat in appearance like a jasper stone and a sardius: and a rainbow round about the throne in appearance like an emerald.
4And round about the throne {i}were{/i} twenty-four thrones: and upon the twenty-four thrones {i}I saw{/i} elders sitting clothed in white garments, and upon their heads golden crowns.
5And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and voices and thunders; and seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God;
6and before the throne as a sea of glass like crystal; and in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, four living creatures full of eyes before and behind:
7and the first living creature like a lion, and the second living creature like a calf, and the third living creature had the face as of a man, and the fourth living creature like a flying eagle.
8And the four living creatures, having each of them six wings, round about and within are full of eyes; and they have no rest day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, the Lord God the Almighty that was and that is and that is to come.
9And when the living creatures shall give glory and honour and thanks to him that sitteth on the throne unto the ages of the ages,
10the twenty-four elders shall fall down before him that sitteth on the throne, and shall worship him that liveth unto the ages of the ages, and shall cast their crowns before the throne, saying,
11Thou art worthy, O Lord [and our God], to receive the glory and the honour and the power: for thou createdest all things, and because of thy will they were and were created.

redeemed.
They are a very peculiar class, a sort of link between heaven and the earth from which they were redeemed. They were untainted by the corrupt influences of that evil day, and especially are they free from the idolatries that will be one of its most grievous marks. (article #56725)

J. N. Darby Translation

+
3
and they sing a new song before the throne, and before the four living creatures and the elders. And no one could learn that song save the hundred and forty-four thousand who were bought from the earth.

W. Kelly Translation

+
3
and they singa [asb] a new song before the throne, and before the four living creatures and the elders; and no one could learn the song but the hundred forty and four thousand that were boughtc from the earth.

WK Translation Notes

+
a
Ancient as well as modern versions, like the English, misled the KJV here as elsewhere in using the word "sung" for "sing," as it stands in the RV.
b
The insertion of "as it were," before "the new song," is by no means certain. It is omitted by many MSS.
c
"Purchased" is right here, and in the following verse, as in chapter 5:9. See note to {vi 30502}{/vi}.
