Wealth gotten by vanity [unsatisfactorily] shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labor shall increase.
We should earn what we get. The laborer is worthy of his hire. What we earn fairly God blesses and multiplies. But so many want a handout. This verse might be applied to the numerous lotteries that are now ensnaring millions of people. Lotteries are addictive and a waste of money. Those very few who win have gotten wealth by vanity and many have had their lives ruined. The Christian already has the unsearchable riches of Christ and does not need to take the terrible financial and spiritual risk of playing lotteries or other forms of gambling.
