Listen from:
God has given us understanding for one main reason: so we may know His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. 1 John 5:2020And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. (1 John 5:20). In Philippians 4:88Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Philippians 4:8) we have a list of things upon which to think, or how to use our understanding: “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
If we think about the Lord Jesus, all these lovely things are found in Him. But there is one thing the Lord does not want us to use our understanding for, and that is seeking to know evil. The less we know about evil, the better. It was Eve’s curiosity to know evil that led her astray, and it has also led boys and girls astray all through the centuries.
