"Planting Seeds"

Listen from:
“God has given us the privilege of telling others about Jesus,” Rob’s dad explained. “If you know the Lord Jesus Christ as your Saviour, you will want to tell others about Him. It’s just like getting a present that you really like. You don’t keep it a secret ... you show it to your friends and tell them about it. Having the Lord Jesus as your Saviour is the most wonderful gift you could ever receive. Why not tell someone about Him?”
Rob thought about what his dad had said for a few moments and then asked, “But what about somebody like Mike? He’s the meanest kid in school! Am I supposed to talk to him about the Lord Jesus?”
“Only the Lord Jesus can answer that question for you, Rob. You should ask Him, but be ready to talk to Mike if the Lord gives you the opportunity,” answered his dad.
“But, Dad, it’ll be hard to talk to Mike. All he’s gonna do is laugh and make fun of me!” exclaimed Rob.
Rob’s dad said, “Rob, look at those huge rocks up on the hillside. Do you see the one with a tree growing out of it? How do you suppose the tree got there?”
“I guess a seed from another tree fell there and found some dirt in a crack and started to grow,” Rob suggested.
“Right,” answered his dad. “And do you think the parent tree worried about how hard the rocks looked when one of it’s seeds dropped? No, the seed just fell, and God did the rest. That’s what we need to do—let the Word of God fall and don’t worry about whether or not it will take root and grow. That’s God’s work, and He can handle it.”
“Even Mike?” asked Rob.
“Even Mike. Is he any tougher than that rock? Remember, the Word of God can crack hard hearts. It has the power to save even Mike. Don’t let him scare you. If God tells you to talk to him, do your part, and God will do His.”
Boys and girls, how about you? Are you afraid of being laughed at if you talk to someone about the Lord Jesus? Remember, your job is to spread the seed of God’s Word, and the rest is up to God.
