Lies, Lies,All Lies

It’s a good thing that there is always some truth being spoken in this old world of ours. “Lies, lies, all lies” can never be one hundred percent true. It is what is called a “self-defeating statement.” If it were true, then it would defeat the notion that everything spoken was a lie.
However, without a doubt, there is a great deal of deceit, falsehood and crookedness in this world. Deceit has a lot of sad consequences. One of the worst is that it keeps people from knowing God. A verse in the Bible reads, “Through deceit they refuse to know Me” (Jeremiah 9:66Thine habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, saith the Lord. (Jeremiah 9:6)). So many lies are being spread about God that many people are finding it easy to ignore God’s claims on their lives.
Lies Like the Following:
1. “Man is a purely biological organism.” This is one lie that is being bandied about, and because of it, men and women in general are no longer concerned about their eternal destiny. What a mistake!
They say that “life as we know it just evolved out of nothing.” Because people buy into this, they no longer look at the beautiful world we live in and recognize it as the handiwork of God. What a loss for them!
2. “Each individual has the power to determine what is right and wrong for themselves.” This may sound plausible at first, but if you think about it, it is utter nonsense and confusion.
So many lies are being told about God that it is no wonder that people latch onto them and refuse to come to know Him.
There is a lot of darkness and deceit in this world. What can drive it away? Just one thing — the truth! The truth shines brightly in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the One who came to earth, suffered, died and rose again — His truth outshines the sun. “I am the way, the truth, and the life,” Jesus said; “no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me” (John 14:66Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6)).
Truth Wins
Truth will always win out over the darkness of deceit. It will always win out like the light of the sun wins out over the darkness of night and drives it away. It won out at the cross when Jesus Christ gave His life for sinners. It won out when the Lord Jesus arose victoriously from the grave. It wins out every time a sinner bows before the Lord Jesus Christ and receives Him as their Lord and Savior. It will win out in the future when the wicked and impenitent are at last sent out of God’s presence forever. And truth will win out at the resurrection of the just when the souls who trusted and loved the Savior while on earth are reunited with their bodies which have been made new, never to suffer pain or death again.
Will truth prevail? Always and ever! Then the only sensible course of action is to come by faith to the One who is faithful and true and gave His life for sinners.
A simple definition of truth is that it is conformity to reality. God wants you and me to be connected to reality and truth. He doesn’t want us to live a lie. He wants us to be real. Jesus Christ is a real Savior for real sinners who cannot save themselves.
“Lies, lies, all lies.” Don’t believe that extraordinary statement. The truth exists in a wonderful way in this world in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the Savior this world so desperately needs.
