Did you know that there are 7.9 billion people on the face of the earth and that every one of them is loved by God and watched over by God, as if all His attention was on them alone and no one else.
That should make each one of us feel very special indeed. However, it should never make us feel complacent because, although God loves each and every person, He hates their sins with a perfect hatred. If they go on in their sins until the day they die, they will pass out of this world and enter into a real hell from which there is no escape. They may die unsaved and end up in the darkness of hell, but they will never die unloved.
To save sinners, Christ came to earth and died on behalf of men and women. Nailed to a horrible cross, He bled and died so that sinners who had wandered into paths of self-pleasing might have a way to return to God and have their sins forgiven. His precious blood that was shed on the cross has enough power in it to wash away the sins of every sinner who turns to Him in faith.
God’s love is as active in this world today as it was on the day the Lord Jesus died on the cross. He shows His love to human beings, not by fulfilling their every whim and wish, which would make them selfish and self-centered, but by seeking them out in love and truth so that they may find life in His Son. “The Son of Man is come to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:1010For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. (Luke 19:10)).
One reason very many of the 7.9 billion people in the world don’t want anything to do with God is pride. Pride makes them think they know better than God Himself when it comes to sin, death and hell. Pride puts a barrier up between their hearts and God. Pride blinds a person to their need of God’s grace. It makes them feel self-sufficient when nothing could be further from the truth. Each one of us needs God in our lives as much as we need the air we breathe or the water we drink.
You might be only 1 person out of 7.9 billion people on the globe, but God loves you, and Christ died for you. You can be sure that Christ Jesus is looking to turn you away from your sins and bring you to Himself. You can be sure that once you believe in Him, He can take you safe home to heaven. Don’t let pride keep you from taking the first steps to the Lord Jesus Christ, which are repentance and faith. He is the Savior that every member of the human race desperately needs.
Not only do we desperately need Jesus Christ, but we are moving relentlessly toward meeting Him, as Rush to Judgment clearly presents.
