Then all the disciples forsook Him, and fled.
Hey, what happened? In our verse yesterday they forsook their nets and followed Jesus. Now we find the same ones running away from Him. Had He changed? No! What went wrong? The disciples had been convinced that Jesus was the Messiah and that He would set up His long-awaited kingdom. Instead of that, He was seized by a band of armed men to be taken away and crucified. The disciples were so afraid of their lives that they forsook the Lord. The sad thing is that a few hours before they had emphatically stated that they would NEVER leave Him. How soon we change when things don’t work out the way we think they should. Be careful of rash promises. Sometimes we are not able to keep them, especially when they are made trusting in our own strength.
