Ex. 21:14,20,29• 14{i}But if a man act wantonly toward his neighbour, and slay him with guile, thou shalt take him from mine altar, that he may die.{/i}
20{i}And if a man strike his bondman or his handmaid with a staff, and he die under his hand, he shall certainly be avenged.{/i}
29{i}But if the ox have gored heretofore, and it have been testified to its owner, and he have not kept it in, and it kill a man or a woman, —the ox shall be stoned, and its owner also shall be put to death.{/i} (Ex. 21:14,20,29)
Gen. 4:8‑23• 8And Cain said to Abel his brother… And it came to pass when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
9And Jehovah said unto Cain, Where [is] Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: [am] I the keeper of my brother?
10And he said, What hast thou done? The voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.
11And now cursed [be] thou from the ground, which hath opened its mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand.
12When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield its strength to thee; a fugitive and a wanderer shalt thou be on the earth.
13And Cain said to Jehovah, My punishment [is] greater than to be borne.
14Behold, thou hast driven me out this day on the face of the ground, and from thy face I shall be hid, and I shall be a wanderer and a fugitive in the earth; and it will come to pass [that] every one finding me shall slay me.
15And Jehovah said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, it shall be avenged sevenfold. And Jehovah set a mark on Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.
16And Cain went out from the presence of Jehovah, and dwelt in the land of Nod [wandering] east of Eden.
17And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived and bare Enoch. And he was building a city, and called the city's name, after the name of his son, Enoch.
18And to Enoch was born Irad; and Irad begot Mehujael; and Mehujael begot Methushael; and Methushael begot Lemech.
19And Lemech took to him two wives; the name of the one [was] Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.
20And Adah bare Jabal: he was father of such as dwell in tents and [have] cattle.
21And his brother's name [was] Jubal: he was father of all such as handle harp and pipe.
22And Zillah, she also bare Tubal-Cain, forger of every tool of copper and iron; and Tubal-Cain's sister [was] Naamah.
23And Lemech said unto his wives,{HR}Adah and Zillah, hear my voice; (Gen. 4:8‑23)
Num. 35:16‑34• 16{i}And if he have smitten him with an instrument of iron, so that he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall certainly be put to death.{/i}
17{i}And if he have smitten him with a stone from the hand, wherewith one may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall certainly be put to death.{/i}
18{i}Or if he have smitten him with an instrument of wood, in the hand, wherewith one may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall certainly be put to death;{/i}
19{i}the avenger of blood, he shall put the murderer to death; when he meeteth him, he shall put him to death.{/i}
20{i}And if he thrust at him out of hatred, or hurl at him intentionally, so that he die,{/i}
21{i}or from enmity smite him with his hand, so that he die, he that smote him shall certainly be put to death; he is a murderer: the avenger of blood shall put the murderer to death, when he meeteth him. —{/i}
22{i}But if he have thrust at him suddenly without enmity, or have cast upon him anything unintentionally,{/i}
23{i}or have smitten him with any stone wherewith one may die, without seeing him, and have cast it upon him so that he die, and he was not his enemy, neither sought his harm:{/i}
24{i}then the assembly shall judge between the smiter and the avenger of blood according to these judgments;{/i}
25{i}And the assembly shall rescue the manslayer out of the hand of the avenger of blood, and the assembly shall restore him to the city of his refuge, whither he had fled; and{/i} shall abide in it unto the death of the high priest, which was anointed with the holy oil.
26But if the slayer shall at any time come without the border of the city of his refuge, whither he was fled;
27and the revenger of blood find him without the borders of the city of his refuge, and the revenger of blood kill the slayer; he shall not be guilty of blood:
28because he should have remained in the city of his refuge until the death of the high priest; but after the death of the high priest the slayer shall return into the land of his possession.
29{i}And this shall be unto you a statute of right throughout your generations in all your dwellings.{/i}
30{i}Whoever shall smite a person mortally, at the mouth of witnesses shall the murderer be put to death; but one witness shall not testify against a person to cause him to die.{/i}
31{i}And ye shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, who is guilty of death, but he shall certainly be put to death.{/i}
32{i}And ye shall take no satisfaction for him that hath fled to the city of his refuge, that he should come again to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest.{/i}
33{i}And ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye are; for blood, it polluteth the land; and there can be no atonement made for the land, for the blood that hath been shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.{/i}
34{i}And ye shall not defile the land that ye inhabit, in the midst whereof I dwell; for I am Jehovah who dwell in the midst of the children of Israel.{/i} (Num. 35:16‑34)
Deut. 19:11‑13• 11{i}But if a man hate his neighbour, and lie in wait for him, and rise up against him, and smite him mortally that he die, and he flee into one of these cities,{/i}
12{i}then the elders of his city shall send and fetch him thence, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die.{/i}
13{i}Thine eye shall not spare him; and thou shalt put away innocent blood from Israel, that it may be well with thee.{/i} (Deut. 19:11‑13)
Matt. 5:21‑22• 21Ye have heard that it was said to those of old, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be subject to the judgment.
22But I say to you, that everyone that is [lightly] angry with his brother shall be subject to the judgment; and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be subject to the council; and whosoever shall say, Fool, shall be subject to the hell of fire. (Matt. 5:21‑22)
Rom. 13:9• 9For “Thou shalt not commit adultery,” “Thou shalt not kill,” “Thou shalt not steal,” “Thou shalt not lust,” and if [there be] any other commandment, in this word it is summed up, in “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” (Rom. 13:9)

1 John 3:12‑15• 12not as Cain was of the wicked one, and slew his brother; and for what did he slay him? Because his works were wicked, and those of his brother righteous.
13Wonder not, brethren, if the world hateth you.
14We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not the brother abideth in death.
15Every one that hateth his brother is a murderer; and ye know that no murderer hath life eternal abiding in him. (1 John 3:12‑15)
