Cricket in the Deep Snow

Listen from:
Hello again, children!
As Gramma and I looked out the window this morning, we saw lots of snow! It probably snowed all night. But right now it is not snowing, so I want to go out and feed the birds like I do every morning. I’ll have to put on my high boots that I use for walking in deep snow.
All the while, Cricket, our little dog, was watching me with her big brown eyes as I was pulling on my boots. Of course, she wants to go with me! She knows I’m going out to feed the birds, and she loves the morning walk around to all the feeders. But  ... today the snow is too deep for her, at least I think so.
As I put my hand on the door handle to open it, she got up and put her nose beside the door. I looked at her and said, “No, Cricket, not today. The snow is too deep.” She knew what I was saying, but she refused to move. I said it again, but she still stood right there, tail wagging, big brown eyes looking up at me as if to say, “PLEASE??” I said, “Okay, you win. Come on with me.”
So out she goes and right down the steps into that deep snow! Then she was leaping around in the snow as if she were a kangaroo! I walked toward the barn where I keep the bird seed, thinking about what God has told us in Genesis 8:2222While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. (Genesis 8:22): “While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” And then in Job 38:2222Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail, (Job 38:22) He asks, “Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow?” God has freely given us all these things to preserve the earth and for us to enjoy! He designed it all for us! Amazing!
I went into the barn and picked up two pails of seeds for the birds and then walked outside again, with Cricket closely following me. However, it was very difficult for her as the snow was deep. I walked around to all the feeders, filling them up. As I was filling the last one, I turned around to make sure Cricket was still okay, but she was having a hard time. She was now jumping into my footprints instead of the deep snow! I stopped and looked at her, and she looked up at me with those big brown eyes. You can probably guess what I did next. I set down the empty seed pails and held out my hands, saying, “C’mon up here, old buddy!” So  ... up she jumped into my arms and gave me a big lick with her tongue, as if to say, “Thanks, Grampa!” Then I picked up the empty seed pails, and with Cricket in my arms, I walked to the house, up the steps, and then I set her down. She ran a few circles around me, and then into the warm house we went where Gramma was waiting to brush the snow off both of us.
Children, our Father in heaven will take good care of us. When the Lord Jesus was here on earth, He came to little children. Did He walk past them? Oh, no! He loved them and stopped and said, “Suffer the little children to come unto Me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God ... . And He took them up in His arms, put His hands upon them, and blessed them” (Mark 10:14,1614But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. (Mark 10:14)
16And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them. (Mark 10:16)
). Just as I picked up Cricket in my arms out of the cold snow and carried her to the nice warm house, even so the Lord Jesus will take you to heaven, if you will trust Him. Are you trusting Him?
Safe am I,
In the hollow of His hand:
Sheltered o’er,
With His love forevermore;
No ill can harm me,
No foe alarm me,
For He keeps both day and night;
Safe am I,
In the hollow of His hand.
With lots of love, Grampa and Gramma
