CHING the Chinaman was anything but clean in his dress and in his manners. But he started coming to the Bible classes at the gospel mission, and the missionary gave him this verse to learn: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:99If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9).
To have our hearts cleansed from sin is the most important cleansing, and this can only be had through the precious blood of Christ. But God wants us to be clean outwardly too.
The word cleanse bothered Ching. So the missionary explained how the Lord Jesus washes away our sins and makes us clean inside. The following week a fine-looking young Chinaman appeared. His face shone; his clothes were clean. The missionary was surprised to discover it was his old friend Ching. Smiling he announced, “Jesus Christ made me clean inside and outside.”
Memory Verse: “BUT THIS MAN, AFTER HE HAD OERED ONE SACRIFICE FOR SINS FOREVER, SAT DOWN ON THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD.” Heb. 10:1212But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; (Hebrews 10:12).
