1. Levitical city of the Kohathites. It was in the lot of Dan (Josh. 21:2424Aijalon with her suburbs, Gath-rimmon with her suburbs; four cities. (Joshua 21:24)); but being a border city it is also connected with Benjamin (1 Chron. 8:1313Beriah also, and Shema, who were heads of the fathers of the inhabitants of Aijalon, who drove away the inhabitants of Gath: (1 Chronicles 8:13)); or with Ephraim (1 Chron. 6:6969And Aijalon with her suburbs, and Gath-rimmon with her suburbs: (1 Chronicles 6:69)); or with Judah and Benjamin, when Rehoboam fortified the city (2 Chron. 11:1010And Zorah, and Aijalon, and Hebron, which are in Judah and in Benjamin fenced cities.
