(the Lord is my father), are variants of the same word. Abia (1 Chron. 3:10¹⁰And Solomon's son was Rehoboam, Abia his son, Asa his son, Jehoshaphat his son, (1 Chronicles 3:10), Matt. 1:7⁷And Solomon begat Roboam; and Roboam begat Abia; and Abia begat Asa; (Matthew 1:7)), is the son of Rehoboam; and in Luke 1:5⁵There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth. 1. One of Samuel’s sons, a judge in Israel, who took bribes and perverted judgment. The Israelites gave this as their reason for wanting a king (1 Sam. 8:2²Now the name of his firstborn was Joel; and the name of his second, Abiah: they were judges in Beer-sheba. (1 Samuel 8:2); 1 Chron. 6:28²⁸And the sons of Samuel; the firstborn Vashni, and Abiah. (1 Chronicles 6:28)).

2. Wife of Hezron (1 Chron. 2:24²⁴And after that Hezron was dead in Caleb-ephratah, then Abiah Hezron's wife bare him Ashur the father of Tekoa. (1 Chronicles 2:24)).

3. Son of Becher a Benjamite (1 Chron. 7:8⁸And the sons of Becher; Zemira, and Joash, and Eliezer, and Elioenai, and Omri, and Jerimoth, and Abiah, and Anathoth, and Alameth. All these are the sons of Becher. (1 Chronicles 7:8)).
