The camp was spread on the desert sands,
The people in thousands were numbered;
Each tribe had a spot for their camping place,
And a captain that bore their standard.
Fourteen-thousand, six-hundred and sixty souls
Of the tribe of Judah alone,
Kept rank in the march behind this man
Whose name joins a list of renown.
His sister was wife to Aaron the priest
