Waiting

Listen from:
Perhaps some of you often sit out on your door step or porch, side by side, waiting for mother or father to come home. And what do you do when you see them coming? You may clap your hands for joy as you run to meet them. You are happy to see again those you love.
Is there any one else you are watching for? Some One you have not yet seen—One you have learned to love though still unseen? Many of you know and love the blessed Saviour who died for you. You know your sins are forgiven through faith in His name. Do you know also that He is coming to take you and all who love Him to His home above? Do you know that any day, any hour, He may descend into the clouds, and call us up to meet Him in a moment—in the twinkling of an eye? (1 Thess. 4:16,1716For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. (1 Thessalonians 4:16‑17); 1 Cor. 15:51,5251Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. (1 Corinthians 15:51‑52).)
So He wants you to be always waiting and watching for Him, ready to be called away at any moment from this world of sin and sorrow. Ready to meet him in the air, ready to share His home and throne above. Are you watching? Are you longing with joy to see that blessed face. The apostle Paul said,
“Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing.” 2 Tim. 4:88Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. (2 Timothy 4:8).
