Trachonitis

(stony). One of the Roman provinces into which the country north of the Jordan was divided, and generally associated with Argob, south of Damascus (Luke 3:1).

Concise Bible Dictionary:

A district forming part of the tetrarchy of Philip (Luke 3:1). It was beyond the Jordan on the north-east, its center being about 32° 50' N, 36° 30' E. The district is now called el Lejah.
