The theme of the issue is suffering — the sufferings of Christ, of the believer and of humanity.

“Ought not Christ to have suffered these things?” (Luke 24:26²⁶Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? (Luke 24:26)).

“Let them who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls in well-doing to a faithful Creator” (1 Peter 4:19 JND).

“The whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain” (Rom. 8:22²²For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. (Romans 8:22)).
