The Flight of Time

SPEED on, thou wheel of time,
Roll on your mighty course,
Let come whatever seemeth best—
Bright, pleasing, or reverse;
Washed in the Saviour's blood,
I have no need of fear,
Each moment speeds me on my way,
His heavenly home to share.
The trials may be fierce
Which strew my pilgrim way,
A few more fleeting hours at most,
And then eternal day.
What though my path should be
With sorrows compassed round,
'Tis sweet to know that in them all
His comfort can be found.
Each test that comes, but proves
We have a God above
Who orders all for those,
The objects of His love.
Then onward speed your course,
Bring on what e'er you will,
A little while and then—
Time's wheel will e're be still.
Eternity begun
On yonder peaceful shore;
Eternally with Him I love;
Then time for me is o'er.
