(desert). Ninth son of Ishmael, and name of his tribe and country. Referred to Teyma in Syria, on the caravan route from Damascus to Mecca (Gen. 25:15¹⁵Hadar, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah: (Genesis 25:15); 1 Chron. 1:30³⁰Mishma, and Dumah, Massa, Hadad, and Tema, (1 Chronicles 1:30); Job 6:19¹⁹The troops of Tema looked, the companies of Sheba waited for them. (Job 6:19); Isa. 21:14¹⁴The inhabitants of the land of Tema brought water to him that was thirsty, they prevented with their bread him that fled. (Isaiah 21:14); Jer. 25:23²³Dedan, and Tema, and Buz, and all that are in the utmost corners, (Jeremiah 25:23)).
