Colonized by Ashur (1 Chron. 2:24; 4:5); fortified by Rehoboam (2 Chron. 11: 6). Home of the “wise woman” who interceded for Absalom (2 Sam. 14:2-9). Birthplace and residence of the prophet Amos (Amos 1:1). Now Tekua.
