Rev. 1:1‑3:22• 1Revelation of Jesus Christ which God gave him to show his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and sending by his angel he signified it to his servant John;
2who testified the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ ( whatsoever things he saw.
3Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of the prophecy and keep the things written in it; for the time is at hand.
4John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from him that is and that was and that is to come; and from the seven Spirits who {i}are{/i} before his throne;
5and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the first-born of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. To him that loveth us and washed us from our sins in his blood,
6and he made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father: to him {i}be{/i} the glory and the might unto the ages of the ages. Amen.
7Behold, he cometh with the clouds, and every eye shall see him, and those which pierced him; and all the tribes of the earth shall wail on account of him. Yea, Amen.
8I am the Alpha and the Omega, saith the Lord God, that is and that was and that is to come, the Almighty.
9I, John, your brother and joint-partaker in tribulation and the kingdom and patience in Christ [Jesus], was in the isle that is called Patmos, because of the word of God and [because of] the testimony of Jesus [Christ].
10I was in {i}the{/i} Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a loud voice as of a trumpet,
11saying, What thou seest write in a book, and send to the seven churches; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.
12And I turned to see the voice which was speaking with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lamp-stands,
13and in the midst of the [seven] lamp-stands one like {i}the{/i} Son of man, clad in a garment down to the foot, and girt about at the paps with a golden girdle:
14his head and his hairs white as white wool, as snow; and his eyes as a flame of fire;
15and his feet like fine brass, as glowing in a furnace; and his voice as a voice of many waters:
16and he had in his right hand seven stars; and out of his mouth proceeded a sharp two-edged sword: and his countenance as the sun shineth in its strength.
17And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead: and he laid his right hand upon me, saying, Fear not; I am the first and the last,
18and the living one: and I was dead, and, behold, I am alive unto the ages of the ages; and I have the keys of death and of hades.
19Write therefore the things which thou sawest, and the things which are, and the things which are about to come to pass after these:
20the mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest on my right hand, and the seven golden lamp-stands; the seven stars are angels of the seven churches, and the seven lamp-stands are seven churches.
1To the angel of the church that is in Ephesus write, These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, that walketh in the midst of the seven golden lamp-stands:
2I know thy works and [thy] toil and thy patience, and that thou canst not bear evil {i}men{/i}; and thou hast tried those that call themselves apostles and are not, and hast found them liars:
3and hast patience, and hast borne for my name's sake, and art not wearied.
4But I have against thee that thou hast relaxed thy first love.
5Remember therefore whence thou art fallen, and repent, and practice the first works; but if not, I am coming to thee [quickly], and will remove thy lamp-stand out of its place, except thou repent.
6But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitanes, which I also hate.
7He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches. To him that overcometh I will give him to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of [my] God.
8And to the angel of the church that is in Smyrna write, These things saith the first and the last, who was dead and lived:
9I know [thy works and] thy tribulation and poverty (but thou art rich), and the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews and are not, but a synagogue of Satan.
10Fear not the things which thou art about to suffer: behold, the devil is about to cast of you into prison that ye may be tried, and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee the crown of life.
11He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches. He that overcometh shall in no wise be hurt of the second death.
12And to the angel of the church that is in Pergamos write, These things saith he that hath the sharp two-edged sword:
13I know [thy works, and] where thou dwellest, where the throne of Satan {i}is{/i}; and thou holdest fast my name and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein {i}was{/i} Antipas, my faithful witness who was killed among you, where Satan dwelleth.
14But I have a few things against thee, [because] thou hast there {i}some{/i} {i}that{/i} hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to cast a stumbling-block before the sons of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit fornication.
15So hast thou also {i}some{/i} {i}that{/i} hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitanes in like manner.
16Repent therefore; but if not, I am coming to thee quickly, and will fight with them with the sword of my mouth.
17He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches. To him that overcometh, I will give him of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and upon the stone a new name written, which no one knoweth save he that receiveth {i}it{/i}.
18And to the angel of the church that is in Thyatira write, These things saith the Son of God, that hath his eyes as a flame of fire, and his feet {i}are{/i} like fine brass:
19I know thy works and love and faith and service, and thy patience, and thy last works more than the first.
20But I have against thee that thou lettest alone the woman Jezebel that calleth herself a prophetess; and she teacheth and deceiveth my servants to commit fornication and to eat things sacrificed to idols.
21And I gave her space to repent, and she willeth not to repent of her fornication.
22Behold, I cast her into a bed, and those that commit fornication with her into great tribulation, except they repent of her works.
23And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he that searcheth reins and hearts; and I will give you each according to your works.
24But to you I say, the rest that are in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine which have not known the depths of Satan (as they say): I put upon you no other burden:
25but that which ye have hold fast till I shall come.
26And he that overcometh and he that keepeth my works unto the end, I will give him authority over the nations;
27and he shall rule them with an iron rod,(as the vessels of a potter are broken to shivers: as I also received of my Father.
28And I will give him the morning star.
29He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches.
1And to the angel of the church that is in Sardis write, These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars: I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.
2Be watchful, and strengthen the things that remain which were about to die: for I have not found thy works complete before my God.
3Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard; and keep it, and repent. If therefore thou watch not, I will come [upon thee] as a thief, and thou shalt in no wise know what hour I will come upon thee.
4But thou hast a few names in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white, for they are worthy.
5He that overcometh, he shall be clothed in white garments; and I will in no wise blot out his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels.
6He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches.
7And to the angel of the church that is in Philadelphia write, These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth and no one shall shut, and that shutteth and no one shall open:
8I know thy works. Behold, I have set before thee an open door which no one can shut: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.
9Behold, I give of the synagogue of Satan those that say they are Jews and are not but lie: behold, I will make them to come and do homage before thy feet, and know that I have loved thee.
10Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of trial that is about to come on all the habitable {i}world{/i}, to try those that dwell on the earth.
11I am coming quickly: hold fast that which thou hast, that no one take thy crown.
12He that overcometh, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall never go out more: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, that cometh down out of the heaven from my God, and my new name.
13He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches.
14And to the angel of the church that is in Laodicea write, These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God:
15I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot; I would thou wert cold or hot.
16So, because thou art lukewarm and neither hot nor cold, I am about to spue thee out of my mouth.
17Because thou sayest, I am rich and am become rich and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art the wretched and the pitiable and poor and blind and naked;
18I counsel thee to buy of me gold purified by fire that thou mayest wax rich, and white garments that thou mayest be clothed and the shame of thy nakedness may not be manifested; and eye-salve to anoint thine eyes that thou mayest see.
19I, as many as I love, rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore and repent.
20Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if Anyone hear my voice, and open the door, I will [both] come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
21He that overcometh, I will give him to sit down with me in my throne, as I also overcame and sat down with my Father in his throne.
22He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches. (Rev. 1:1‑3:22)
