Rev. 2:6• 6But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. (Rev. 2:6)
• The doctrine of the Nicolaitans* seems an evil from within, as that of Balaam was rather from without. Such it was in principle and doctrine now. We read of their deeds in Ephesus, but this went farther and deeper. It was a corruption of grace, a turning it to licentiousness. (“Lectures on Revelation 2:12-18” by W. Kelly)

The word "some," is better than "them that hold."

The true reading is "likewise," or "in like manner," instead of "which thing I hate," which was probably copied from 2:6. The sense is that there were such as held the Nicolaitan doctrine, as well as those who held that of Balaam.
