Question: Acts 26:2323That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should show light unto the people, and to the Gentiles. (Acts 26:23). “That He should be the first that should rise from the dead.” How reconcile this with Luke 9:3030And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias: (Luke 9:30)? “There talked with Him two men which were Moses....” Was Moses there only in spirit, or, risen from the dead? Christ was “the first.” X. Y. Z.
Answer: There is no difficulty as to Elijah who did not rise from the dead. And it is not said that Moses did, though one may not be able to explain more than that both appeared in glory at the transfiguration. But scripture cannot be broken: Christ is the first-fruits.
