From this word is derived the name of [Gîymel,] {gimmel,} the third letter of the alphabet, which is prefixed to every verse in this part:
this is a stroke of the Psalmist's art and ingenuity.
I may live.
Rom. 8:2‑4• 2For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and of death.
3For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God, having sent his own Son, in likeness of flesh of sin, and for sin, has condemned sin in the flesh,
4in order that the righteous requirement of the law should be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to flesh but according to Spirit.

Eph. 2:4‑5,10• 4but God, being rich in mercy, because of his great love wherewith he loved us,

10For we are his workmanship, having been created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God has before prepared that we should walk in them.

“Gimel”— reflection on the mercy of God (vs. 17-24). (Book 5. by B. Anstey)
(vv. 17-18) The young man who cleanses his way is prepared and meet for the service of the Lord (2 Tim. 2:21). He confesses that with God are the issues of life: he looks to the bountiful mercy of the Lord to spare him, to keep him walking in obedience, and to open his eyes to behold wondrous things out of the law. This is more than discovering in the law a rule of life. (Psalm 119:17-24: Division 3 (Gimel) by H. Smith)
In general, it looks for mercy to be able to walk. The heart owns it, is God's servant, and looks to be kept in mercy in order to walk truly. This is a great point of the return of the soul to God. (Practical Reflections on the Psalms: Psalm 119:1-24 by J.N. Darby)
