Poor and Needy

YEARS AGO, in New York, when one of the richest men in the city lay dying, he asked his attendants to sing for him. They sang the well known gospel hymn.
“Come, ye sinners, poor and needy.” In plaintive tones the dying millionaire said, “Yes, please sing that again for me. I am poor and needy.”
The world promises much but gives but little. How worthless are a million dollars to one about to die and meet God! “Riches profit not in the day of wrath.” Prov. 11:44Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death. (Proverbs 11:4).
But how rich is even the poorest one who has Christ!
“For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that ye, through His poverty might be rich.” 2 Cor. 8:99For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich. (2 Corinthians 8:9).
COME, ye sinners, poor and needy,
Weak and wounded, sick and sore;
Jesus ready stands to save you,
Full of pity, love, and power.
He is able;
He is willing: doubt no more.
