No There, There

Lately, a new phrase — There is no there, there — has popped up in American political jargon. It has become a way of saying, “There is nothing significant in the wrongdoing I am being accused of. There is no need to dwell on any of these accusations.”
Politicians use the phrase to defend themselves. Sadly, a lot of people think this way about their sins.
Bring up to them the idea of personal wrong-doing before God, how we have all strayed from God’s righteousness, how we have all come up short of the glory of God, and the immediate response in many hearts and minds, even if it is not put in these words, is, “There is no there, there.” Or, in other words, there is nothing significant to the idea of sin.
The mindset of our world today is that the idea of sin is old-fashioned and we have moved beyond it.
Sin Isn’t an Old-Fashioned Concept
The problem with this thinking is that there really is a “there, there.” People do have a real sin problem. It is a problem of gigantic proportions that won’t go away by simply denying it. The sin problem will keep people out of heaven if it isn’t addressed.
Each individual will one day stand before the judgment seat and give account of their lives. “We shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ” (Romans 14:1010But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. (Romans 14:10)). The sins that a person has done will follow them to that judgment seat. Their sins may have been of no account in their own eyes, but God appraises them differently. Those who die in their sins will be sent out of His presence to the everlasting punishment of hell.
Make no mistake; there is a “there, there” when it comes to sin. “All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:2323For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (Romans 3:23)). Because we have sinned, we need the Savior. The sins we have done have the power to bring us down into the depths of hell. There is no way to escape this or to fix it outside of coming to Christ.
On the cross, Jesus Christ gave His life so sinners may look to Him and find salvation. “Look unto Me, and be  ...  saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else” (Isaiah 45:2222Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. (Isaiah 45:22)).
If you have been going through life like there is no “there, there” concerning your sins, it is not too late to realize your mistake, and then repent of your sins. After all, what good have those sins done for you?
Because of the “there, there” that is in sin, we need God’s salvation. Will you believe in the name of Jesus so that you can enjoy forgiveness and eternal life?
“The wages of sin is death: but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:2323For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23)).
