Good News for Young and Old: Volume 16 (1874)
I KNOW some little children who very often want to
play
when their dear mother wants to
read
or
talk
to them. I think this little boy and girl in the picture are good children; they are stopping quite still, to hear what mother has to say. This is what we should always do. It pleases the Lord when we are kind to our dear parents, and do what they wish us. Jesus was a very good Child indeed before He grew up to be a Man. He was subject to His parents (
Luke 2:51, 52
51
And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
52
And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man. (Luke 2:51‑52)
). It is very sad when we are
not
subject, when we want always to have our own way. It is not like Jesus at all. And if our sins are washed away through faith in Jesus, and He is
our
Saviour, we want to be like Him. When He comes in glory, and we see Him, He will make us to be
quite
like Him; and now, while we are in this world, it should be our desire to be as much like Him as we can.
