GOD, moved with sympathy to man
SO very far from Him,
LOVED to reveal Himself in grace
THE heart of man to win.
The WORLD had wandered far from God
And in THAT distance lay
Till HE in mercy interposed
And GAVE His Son to die.
HIS Son He gave our love to win,
His ONLY Son from heaven—
Only BEGOTTEN Son was He—
That SON for us was given.
THAT tells His heart of love for us,
And WHOSOEVER now
BELIEVETH on His precious name
Shall ON to glory go.
All who in HIM have placed their trust
SHOULD ever seek and pray
That NOT on things their hearts should set
Which PERISH in a day.
BUT follow in His footsteps here
And HAVE their hopes above
Where EVERLASTING glory reigns,
A LIFE of peace and love.
