• Let him gird up his loins like a man. God will not ask questions which a man cannot understand. If his loins are “girt about with truth,” he can answer—as indeed he does—these questions. The very fact that Jehovah thus addresses Job shows His purposes of mercy for him. His appeal is to reason, and thus to conscience. (“Job 38-42:6” by S. Ridout)
