Chapter 11 has many examples of people who had faith in God. The Lord Jesus is the perfect example. He is the leader and the finisher of a life of faith.
Jesus will be at the finish line to reward us for our faith. Jesus faced so many contradictions and false accusations from sinners who hated Him. Why do people hate Jesus so much? It is because He is righteous and holy. Next to Jesus people look bad in their sin. I encourage you to live for the Lord Jesus even if there is danger in it. Don’t be angry with God when you have problems in life. Problems are part of God’s care and teaching for us. The people who God loves He will chasten and correct, as a father should discipline his child. Chastening is a training process God uses to teach us what to do. Scourging is like being punished with a spanking when we disobey.
God chastens us believers for our good so that we might share His holiness and become more like Christ. We need to follow peace to be able to get along with each other. But we need to practice holiness to see the Lord and to enjoy fellowship with Him.
God is the highest authority and in the highest place. He is the Most Excellent One. God is more than we can think. He is pure and holy. We need to serve Him with reverence. Reverence knows we are unworthy to serve Him or worship Him except that His grace makes us accepted in Jesus Christ. Godly fear makes us quiet and humble in His presence.
