Answer: Albert Einstein. While Einstein makes an important point, God, who “cannot lie” (Titus 1:2), makes an essential one when He says He wants “truth in the inward” (Psalm 51:6) part of our being. A white lie only told to ourselves would make us unworthy of His holy presence. Why should we trust our own verdict when we say we “are good enough” for God to accept us? “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us” (1 John 1:8). But God is willing to accept “the blood of Jesus Christ His Son” to cleanse “us from all sin” (1 John 1:7). Christ Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me” (John 14:6). Religion, sincere belief and good works won’t cancel a single lie we’ve told, but the sacrifice of Jesus Christ can clear our record of every sin. Will you turn to Him to be made right with God?
