You may have just let others in your social network know about a huge status update like a wedding. Others can’t wait to let the world know they just bought a donut. But we both have our biggest status update coming. Mine will read: “With Christ; which is far better” (Philippians 1:23). I’m a sinner and so are you. “All have sinned” (Romans 3:23). Those aren’t empty religious words but rather an unsettling truth. Jesus Christ would delight to share your company, but only if you admit that you’re a sinner who deserves the consequences of your sin; “the wages of sin is death.” He offers an escape because He came to take away sin. “The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23). That offer, that gift, must be humbly accepted to be of any use to you personally. Then we will enjoy the ultimate status update together “with Christ.”
