Christian Treasury: Volume 7
"Shun profane and vain babblings... but
foolish
and
unlearned
questions
avoid,
knowing that they do gender strifes."
2 Tim. 2:16, 23
16
But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. (2 Timothy 2:16)
23
But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. (2 Timothy 2:23)
. We need to guard against anything that would
tread down
the pastures, or
foul
the waters, by unspiritual and unprofitable discussions, thus depriving the sheep of the flock of the rich and healthful nourishment provided (see
Ezek. 34:18,19
18
Seemeth it a small thing unto you to have eaten up the good pasture, but ye must tread down with your feet the residue of your pastures? and to have drunk of the deep waters, but ye must foul the residue with your feet?
19
