Father, I Own Thy Love to Me

FATHER, I own Thy love to me,
Unworthy and undone;
To save me from my lost estate
Thou gav'st Thine only Son.
Thy Son—whom from eternal days
The object of Thy love—
Thou did'st in Thy great mercy send
To bring me home above.
And He, obedient to Thy will,
Did'st leave Thy home on high,
To save a lost and ruined race,
On Calvary's cross to die.
That love has filled this heart of mine
With joy and praise divine,
But sweeter far my praise shall be
When I in glory shine.
O blessed Saviour, Thou did'st come
To do Thy Father's will,
In all Thy words, in all Thy ways
Thou did'st His word fulfill.
Altho' Thy path thro' this poor world
Was set with sorrows round,
E'en to Thine enemies, Thou did'st
In love and grace abound.
To Calvary, with its grief and shame,
Thy lowly pathway led;
Thou, as a sacrifice for sin,
Wast numbered with the dead.
Though death's cold grasp might seek to hold
Thy body in the grave,
Thou did'st, by Thine own power arise,
The mighty One to save.
And back to glory Thou halt gone
Thy people's cause to plead,
As Great High Priest Thou sittest there,
For every hour of need.
And soon in glory Thou wilt come,
And call Thy people home,
That day for which Thou'st waited long—
Lord Jesus quickly come.
