 Christ cannot be associated with evil. Hence the leaven was absolutely prohibited. Nor was the fat of the sacrifice to remain until the morning. (Compare Ex. 12:10). The full explanation of this will be found in the directions concerning the peace-offering (Lev. 3:3-5). The fat therefore was God’s portion. (See also Lev. 4:8-10). It must, on this account, not be neglected—be left over until the morning, but offered immediately. God must have His part before His people had theirs. This is the secret of all blessing—giving the Lord the supreme place, thinking first of what is due to Him, and losing sight of all else until this is rendered.
